1 About the programme
The subject of this Public Call, Voucher for the Protection of Invention - 2023, is the award of vouchers aimed at supporting micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) and individuals from Montenegro who, in 2023, obtained patent protection for an invention in Montenegro or are currently undergoing the international or European patent protection procedure before the European Patent Office (EPO) or the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).
An invention eligible for patent protection may relate to either a product or a process, in accordance with Article 5 of the Patent Law (Official Gazette of Montenegro, Nos. 42/15, 2/17 and 146/21).
Objectives of the Public Call
- To encourage MSMEs and individuals engaged in innovation activities (inventors or innovators) in Montenegro to protect their inventions through patents, enabling further testing and development that may lead to commercialization and the introduction of patented inventions to domestic and international markets.
- To enhance the competitiveness and innovation capacity of Montenegrin MSMEs through the protection of intellectual property rights in Montenegro and abroad.
- To strengthen the innovation capacity of Montenegrin MSMEs.
2 Eligible applicants
Applications under this Public Call may be submitted by individuals, newly established enterprises, and micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs).
Voucher for the Protection of Inventions in Montenegro
Legal entities and individuals from Montenegro who obtained national patent protection for their invention during 2023 are eligible to apply.
Eligible costs and amount of support:
a) Costs related to obtaining national patent protection, up to EUR 200;
b) Costs related to the further development of the invention, up to EUR 2,000.
Voucher for the Protection of Inventions Abroad (EPO/WIPO)
Legal entities and individuals from Montenegro who, during 2023, submitted a patent application to the European Patent Office (EPO) or through the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) under the international patent protection system, and/or received a positive notification confirming that their application was accepted for substantive examination, are eligible to apply.
