"Robotics for the Youngest" continues to expand the network of teaching staff trained to apply modern methods in teaching
(Podgorica, April 21, 2026) – The Innovation Fund of Montenegro, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation and the Bureau for Education Services, and with the financial support of the Central Bank of Montenegro, continues with the implementation of the national program "Robotics for the Youngest".
Following the successfully completed first cycle of training for teaching staff on the application of innovative teaching methods for ages 5 to 9, the program continues with a second round of education under the re-accredited program "Application of Robotics for Innovative Teaching Methods and Development of Key Competencies", Catalog No. 262, PO 9.
The trainings were held on April 18 and 19 in seven cities across Montenegro, with the aim of further strengthening the competencies of the teaching staff in applying innovative methods in the education of the youngest.
Through one-day trainings implemented in Berane, Bijelo Polje, Nikšić, Petrovac, Pljevlja, Podgorica, and Rožaje, around 105 class teachers from all parts of Montenegro were trained. This covered all three regions of the country, further confirming the program's goal of making innovative approaches to learning accessible to all schools, regardless of their size and capacities.
During the one-day training, the participants went through a theoretical and practical part, through which they acquired methodological knowledge on integrating learning through play by applying educational robots in daily teaching. Special focus was placed on the development of key competencies in students, logical and critical thinking, digital competencies, and teamwork. Additionally, the training enables the interdisciplinary connection of educational contents, the application of robotics in the fields of mathematics, language, natural sciences, and financial literacy, as well as active and experiential learning adapted to the youngest age.
The "Robotics for the Youngest" program continues to build a network of teachers who transfer innovations directly into classrooms, creating a modern educational environment in which children develop the competencies needed for the 21st century.
In the first cycle, around 230 class teachers were trained, and in the second cycle an additional 105, which further expands the network of teaching staff trained in the application of educational robotics in teaching.
As pointed out by the author of the program and one of the accredited national trainers, Prof. Snežana Šćepanović from the Innovation Fund of Montenegro: "The special value of educational activities for the teaching staff within the program is reflected in the fact that learning through play and robotics enables children of the earliest age to develop key competencies for the future in a way that is close and stimulating to them. This is an approach that simultaneously encourages curiosity, logical thinking, creativity, cooperation, and independence, thereby laying important foundations for further learning and active inclusion in modern society."
